31 juillet au 5 août 2022 -WCCM-APCOM 2022 - Minisymposium Computational Contact Mechanics

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you that we are organizing the Minisymposium
MS 1501 : COMPUTATIONAL CONTACT MECHANICS in the Thematic1500 “Fluid-Structure Interaction, Contact and Interfaces"
https://www.wccm2022.org/minisymposia1501.html

as part of the 15th WCCM-APCOM Congress, Yokohama, Japan, July 31-August 5, 2022
https://www.wccm2022.org/index.html

The deadline for submitting a one-page abstract is November 15, 2021 and instructions could be found on
https://www.wccm2022.org/submission.html

All participants to this 15th WCCM/APCOM working on the following topics are very welcome to submit an abstract in this Minisymposium devoted to contact, friction, adhesion, wear and to the related numerical approaches:

During the last decades considerable progress has been achieved in the area of Contact Mechanics and related computational aspects, many problems are still open.
The research field is still growing and diversifies in many directions. Indeed, research in contact mechanics has different facets which are related to understanding of physical phenomena, computational methods as well as industrial applications.
Areas of interest have a broad range. A list of pertinent subjects includes among others: unilateral conditions, adhesion, friction, wear and rolling contact are treated within multi-scale, multi-physics and coupled multi-field formulations. Furthermore, contact at nanoscales, contact dynamics and biomechanical contact problems have to be mentioned.
Computational methods involve specific topics: discretization techniques, constraint enforcement methods, contact detection algorithms, discrete elements techniques, fast solvers for constraint problems.
The minisymposium will provide a wide forum for scientists and young researchers, which allows discussion of the most recent advances and the perspectives for future developments in computational contact mechanics.

Let note that 2022 will be especially rich for the contact mechanics community and we are very glad to mention also the CMIS 2022 (Contact Mechanics International Symposium) organized on May 23-25, Chexbres, Switzerland, 2022, by JF Molinari and co-workers from EPFL, Lausanne.
Details can be found on: https://cmis2022.epfl.ch/

We hope to see you in Yokohama
 Best regards
